722.6 Transmission Connector Question 96 SL600

3 Attachment(s)
Gentlemen

I have two questions regarding the harness connector on my 1996 SL600.

1) I cant seam to lock it in. I can only rotate the outer shell as far as shown in the two attached photos. I believe it should d go further but I feel that I'm going to break it. I did inspect to see it any pins were down but they all looked perfect. Any ideas??

2) I read somewhere on these forums that the seal for this connector causes transmission problems, by allowing fluid into the connector. Is the picture show the correct seal or is there another one inside the transmission. Dose it require major disassembly to change the seal inside the transmission. I don't have any transmission problems at the moment but if this is something I could correct I would like to do it now before I put the fluid in.

Thank You

OK I figured that out. There is a little screw up the center of the socket. I pulled that out and the socket comes out and there are two seals. Once it was out cleaned and reinstalled the connector engaged fully.

I still cannot find the part number of the seal on the cable. I found the part number of the two seals in the transmission. I also found the harness in EPC but the seal isn't called out separately. Does anyone have a number.
