Timing chain replacement is as needed. Check every 25,000 or so. Max is 3 degrees on vibration damper with camshaft timing marks aligned. Check chain tensioner also to make sure it keeps chain tight.

So, I had beginners luck with my SD?

I bought it, then found out that in particular, it is highly regarded as one of the choicest MB's ...

I didn't learn about this site until after I bought it...besides..I wanted it!

Paint needs touch up, trans seems good after new fluid. I was told by the local import shop that this trans (83) was essentially non adjustable. Comments?

I bought my vacuum tester the other day. I'm ready to fine-tune.

Thanks to all for a great resource!
