The dash lights in my 1970 280 SEL are not lighting up. The rest of the lights work on the car, but I would like to be able to read all of my guages at night. How should I go about getting them to work.
I have yet to recieve my owners manual and maintenance manual, so I don't have the wiring schematics and all of those goodies to guide me. I was just hoping that since I can't drive my car yet, I might as well get the small things fixed. Derrick |

dash lights
I just fixed a similar problem on my 1982 280e. If you are lucky, it is just the potentiometer that dims the light. You can remove it and replace it or, to save money, you can just bridge it by soldering a wire between the terminals where it plugs in behind the dash. In my case, I also had to bridge over various parts of the printed circuit that had somehow mysteriously been worn off the back of the dash. In any event, it was a pretty simple repair that took less than an hour (once I figured out the problem)

Hey...thanks...I will check that out as soon as I get under the dash. I was hoping that it would be a quick fix. I appreciate the advice.
