I just received the Temp Sender (black 1 pole sensor, part number 005 542 26 17) and ACC Temp Sensor (blue 2 pole sensor, part number 008 542 45 17) from the Parts Shop. (Really quick ship, btw...)

It seems like a pretty straight forward replacement (i.e. detach wires, unscrew sensor, install new sensor, reattach wires). Before I actually go ahead and replace these parts, is there anything I have to know or do before attempting to R&R as described above? Any gaskets, sealant, lubricant or whatnot that needs to be applied?

Wanted to double check...didn't want to create a larger problem by trying to solve a smaller one...

Thanks.

(Sorry for the cross-posting...need help real quick)

Replace the crush washer.

Both sensors successfully replaced!

Apparently, it was a simple bolt on bolt off affair.

This R&R is best done with the engine cold, and the radiator cap removed to release whatever pressure there may be. (Thanks, Guido!) The area was pretty tight though, and only incremental movements were allowed of the socket wrench. A bit more tedious installing (due to tightenting) than removing because of this.

Stan, the black sensor replacement part came with a crush washer and the old one was replaced. The blue sensor replacement part did not come with a crush washer, and nor did the one I removed. Is this normal?

Thanks.

Only if brass to aluminun contact so it could be normal but I always install a washer.
