I did it - W124 Euro headlights!
 

Finally got around to doing my european headlight conversion on my W124 yesterday, and it looks amazing:

I used the information here to guide me - the entire conversion took about 2 hours to do (but I did not do the city lights, nor vacuum adjusters. I'll save those projects for another time).

If you haven't already, go out and do this immediately. You won't regret it.

Looks great! Bosch or Taiwan? I did my 126 about 2 weeks ago with Depo and I'm very pleased with the look as well as the lights. No daytime lights for me as we are required to have headlights on during the day here. I also did not use the self-levelling part but I did retain my wipers which really are useless but I think look cool (shrug). I have the tails on order as well, but that's because the dealer wanted $50 each for a pair of gaskets to stop the trunk leak and the tails were little more than that. Besides, the old tails were faded and scruffy.

I installed a set from Depo (via ebay), and I ditched the amber the turn signals for the 94-95 OEM clear corners.

Mine didn't have the headlight wiper assembly to begin with, so I avoided that entire hassle with getting a new wiper assembly and getting/painting a new lower trim panel and reused the old one.

Is there any advantage to using the Bosch assemblies over the Depo ones?

I used the old wiper assembly and with some judicious modifying of the support brackets, I used all of the old stuff.

I have heard the Bosch are better quality - there are some crude parts to the Depo, but overall, the Depo are fine at less than half the price of the Bosch.

kudos! that is the look I want. I shall soon achieve this with at least one of my 124s. Where did you get your "depo" brand lights?

I've replaced mine about 7 or 8 years ago and they still shine and perform like on day 1.

I know someone who replaced his DEPO (from e-bay) 2 or 3 years after they were installed. The chromed/polished inside reflector started to corrode and fade and they looked awful
If you can, go with Bosch or Hella.

I picked up mine from Importvision Motorsports (http://www.importvision.com/) via their ebay store for $185.
I will certainly keep an eye out for fading and corroding - if that happens then I definitely will go for Bosch.

Yes it is a fine looking auto. I have the same interior in one of my 124s and notice your seats are also sorta "peachy" or "beige-y"-colored now, compared with more orange-y door panels and carpet. Wonder if they started life that way.

Have you had the head re-done on that car? How about the transmission?

Seat color:, Yeap, some fading. (MB-Tex.)
The head has never been taken off. The valve seals were done 3-4 years ago as oil consumption became a problem.....now fixed.
Transmission: Totally original, no work done on it, except regular oil changes.
