Too little trans. fluid pressure. How do I test T.C.?
 

I recently had the trans. rebuilt in my 94 S320 and the mechanic didn't really find anything wrong with it that would keep it from moving in reverse or forward. We have it back in the car and it won't move the car. At first it backed the car up 10 feet off the lift, then once I went to pull forward, it wouldn't move. We checked the pressure at the cooling lines (which were replaced with the tranny) and there wasn't nearly enough pressure there. Especially nothing ~100 psi. like there should be. This makes me think it's either a torque converter or front pump problem. The rebuilder said he took the pump apart and everything looked good, i.e. no broken pieces, scoring, etc. He said he also shook the T.C. and didn't feel/hear anything unusual. The mechanic is coming up today with pressure gauges to see exactly what kind of pressure we're getting, but I'm positive it's not enough. Once he reads the pressure that's obviously not going to tell us WHY it's that low. Any ideas what's going on here? He did all the gaskets, seals, etc. that is done in a rebuild, plus the 5th gear cluth pack since he said the lining was worn off. I really want to drive this monster since I bought it with a bad trans.

We put gauges on it and only got 90 psi at the very most. When we got that, the manual called for 180 psi. So at best, I can only get half of what's required. Anything to look for in particular? Since I'm getting that much pressure, does that at least rule out the torque converter as being bad?
