Thought I would do my wife a favor, but boy do I feel stupid. Have my filter w/o-rings, my mobil 1, car on ramps. Now where's the oil plug and the filter? Some guidence would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The drain plug is a bolt in the oil pan. You may need to remove the noise insulation panel to get at it. The filter is on the driver's side of the engine at the firewall.

It won't help you with this oil change, but many of us use some form of suction apparatus to pull oil up and out of the dipstick tube. MB has made every model since the late '70s with this in mind. The oil filters are conveniently located up top, too. There is ongoing controversy of the use of these "Topsider" type devices vs. gravity draining oil, but someone once did a little experiment and found you can actually remove more oil via the dipstick than from below, due to the raised area around the drain plug.

Mr. Swinford has invented a fine, home-built suction device which is less expensive than the commercial varieties -- if interested, do a search on it.

Lik glen said, the drain plug is under the protective covering (4 screws) under the engine. And the oil filter is in a black casing that screws off behind the engine next to the firewall.
And I would do as recommended by 400E and get yourself a TOPSIDER (i got mine at a boat supply store). GOod luck.
