Good evening, I am trying to restore a 1975 240d with
131,000 on it. It did run, but previous owner said it was hard to start. When I got it, it would not start. I have put in new glow plug, filters etc. The injectors are ok and I see a fine mist coming out of them. I checked the compression tonight and it is the following: 1-125, 2-123, 3-126 and 4 was 127 I understand i need at least 300 for the engine to start??? where do I go from here???? I would like to know what to check or look for to correct the low compression??? tks, Don |
First thing to do is adjust the valves. This should be done ever 15,000 miles. If the compression is still low leaktest the cylinders. The mileage is too low for this low compression unless it was not serviced the way it should have been.
