Where to get HID's for 1993 W140

Looking to swap out the stock bulbs with some HID's. I live in suburbia and the extra light output would help during night driving. Anyone know where I can pick up a reputable set and not have to re-finance my home?

Thanks,
Agron

it's not that straight forward. just be aware that such a conversion is
technically illegal.

at worst (and with worst quality) is buying an HID kit/ballast/D2R bulbs and
to cram them into your car. uncontrolled glare is likely to be the result.

next would be to buy OEM projector/reflector and do a Dr Frankenstein on
them...into your car. Performed correctly, you should have quality beam,
though lacking in the autolevel feature found in originally equipped HID cars.

There is no such thing as a "reputable" (or functional for that matter) HID conversion except to replace entire headlight unit for one designed from the start for HID.

This doesn't exist for W140.

Look into brighter halogen bulbs.

If it uses an H4 bulb there are several kits you can get to convert them. I've done it on three cars and am very happy with the results. I get a nice, bright beam with a good cutoff pattern and I haven't been flashed once since I did it. The car I had the most struggle with was a two-stage conversion, first from sealed-beam headlights to the Hella replacements that use the H4, then to bixenon bulbs. I had trouble getting them aligned until I found an old alignment tool. Once I did that, it was a piece of cake.

This place offers good kits:

So how much of a pain is it to buy a set of factory HID enclosures, ballasts, etc and do it right?
