Easy to repair W140 chassis cars?

I'm wondering the amount of special tools/equipment needed to work on and repair these cars. Got an S420 in, drove it, fell in love with it. Thinking about getting one for myself when i sell my audi, just wondering how tough to service they are. I'm fairly competent with a wrench but don't have a lift or air tools, nor many german-specific tools (VAG-com etc).

What should i expect on a monthly basis for the maintenance of these things? I can't imagine its any more than the 300 or so a month i've been averaging with my audi, and thats doing everything myself (trans lines, radiator, PS pump, timing belt etc list goes on and on). The car will primarily be driven on weekends and occasion road trips.

Any insight appreciated,
Ryan
