Now that you've been given all of the scoop(poop), here is a tip from the Engine Electric Manual for the W124030 belt remove and replace.
After a specific engine number, you can swing the alternator, by loosening the mounting bolts and remove the belt.
Now aint that a kick?
If you haven't started yet, let me know the engine number or build date and I'll tell you if you've got the Brass Ring.

belt reads Contitech 2-94(does it mean this belt made in 94?).
I was preparing the AT cooler connections with WD40 and Releasall,(labour day w'end job?)
AND looking for the tension scale tonight in front of the hollow tube adjuster.No 7 marks etc,
just a crescendo type triangle and the TENSION indicator needle is pointing straightly up near the top(radiator end) of the triangle,would this be the new version?
