C215 self closing door affecting window closure
 

I have a 2002 CL500. The driver's window takes a long time to set after the door is closed. It takes 15 sec. for the driver's window to set, and 2-3 sec for the passenger's window to set after the doors are closed. If I press the switch on the door post (a long black switch behind the latch), the window goes up immediately. I've noticed that the self closing door feature for the driver's door holds the door in a long time, and once it "releases" the door to it's normal position, then the window will immediately rise. If I also pull on the outside door handle after the door closes, then the window will rise immediately; but left to it's automatic function, the window will not rise until the door is released, and the self-closing feature is holding the door tight too long. The passenger door works normally (about 3 sec for the entire sequence). My mechanic already change a switch, but that didn't solve the problem. Is there something else that controls these sequences that is easily repaired?

Hasn't anyone had this trouble with their CL500s? I was hoping someone could enlighten me on how this system works, and suggest a component to replace.

ON that car Closing assist goes like this...........

A micro-switch sends a signal to the door control module, from the door module the signal goes thry the interior gateway(EIS), from there it goes to the PSE system & the pump runs. At that point pressure is fed to a diaphram on the door latch & that pulls the door closed. When the door is closed there is another microswitch that must send a signal back to the door module to close the window.....SIMPLE, right?

What part???? possibly the door latch assembly?

Latest development on my C215 door closing problem. Now the self closing feature is completely inoperative on the driver's door. If I shut the door manually (slam it), the window goes up immediately. So it seems my problem was in the self closing feature of the driver's door. The passenger's door is still functioning normally. I haven't had a chance to take the car to my mechanic, but this new development should make it easier to diagnose. Is this something for a DIY project? What part would I need? Is it a difficult repair? Should I take it to my mechanic? Thanks for your help M.B. Doc!
