can't find my x92 connector

Hello!

I have a 1988 300e/260e. I've got the occaisional misfire thingy and it won't pass smog... been reading posts about diagnostics and figured my car should have an x92 led diagnostic connector but I can't find one... it has to be reset doesn't it to get good readings from the duty cycle... my x11 pin has only 8 holes.... there's a black thing next to my battery that has eight number electrical plugs too but the pins that fit in them would be bigger than the x11 holes if that means anything

Thanks for any help!
