1991 560SEL Modulator Valve install

trying to install a new black modulator valve. the old one does not appear to have a retaining plate or hexagon socket bolts (allen wrench style). how do I remove the old modulator valve and install a new one on a 1991 560SEL? thanks for any help!

ok, I was wrong, the modulator does have a retaining plate with a hexagon socket bolt. managed to get the bolt out (5mm allen drive), but cannot figure out how to remove the retaining plate. any ideas?? (screwdrive to pry it off, etc????).

YES, finally got the modulator installed. any ideas on the torque for tightening the 5mm hexagon socket bolts? also, someone mentioned it is a good idea to shoot brake cleaner up the vacuum line. couldn't the brake cleaner enter the engine intake?

found the torque specs, about 70 foot inches for the allen style bolts on the transmission modulator. I have decided not to spray brake cleaner into the vacuum line due to concerns of it going into the engine intake. the rubber looked alright, so I am going to leave that be.....hopefully the tranny will work. a well known indy shop changed the fluid and modulator valve. they overfilled the transmission (about 3 inches ABOVE the top mark) and installed a used modulator. took the car back (drove it for three months before I discovered the overfill) and asked them to please drain the transmission fluid. got the car back and it is STILL 3 inches ABOVE the top mark....this is why I have taken to working on the car myself.......I can screw it up for half the money.....
