The title may be a little misleading. Symptom: over bumps (both major and minor) I "feel" every one of these and when the road is not smooth the steering wheel vibrates as if tires are out of balance (which I don't think they are). I've had them regularly rotated and balanced. I've searched threads related to this and am under the impression that the Steering Damper may be the culprit but would like confirmation if possible. 1991 - 124 with 150K miles.

I had the same problem over bumps, the steering felt wably or unstable. I replaced my steering damper last Friday. Made a big diference, it feels alot tighter, more solid and completely smooth. Fairly inexpensive, (around $30) and easy to do, took me, maybe half hour to fix. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks
