Identify Caliper??

OK ladies and gents, I bought a set of calipers off a 400E...

My question is how do I identify which calipers I bought???

There are several numbers, but whenever I try to crossreference them, I come up at a loss....

Thanks i advance.

You seem to suggest more than one version of caliper was fitted to this model.

Why not subscribe for free to EPC (electronic parts catalog) and verify this?

http://www.startekinfo.com

And, if there are indeed multiple caliper possibilities, just type in the VIN of the car your calipers came from, and EPC will identify which.

Yes, there were at least 2 if not 3 caliper specs with diff rotors for that car...I have a set from a E420 that was the first year and it also has the same issue. I ended up with the wrong rotors and they dug into the ball joint knuckle on the lower a arm, not cool, couldnt return them cant seem to find a way to determine the correct rotors, and I have the VIN. It should have been a direct swap to my car, a 190E 16v, but apparently uh, not if you got the know thickness of rotors. Wish I could help, the online catalog didnt help me much and I swear by it.

Thats the problem that I am hoping that I do not run into...

I did not get the VIN the car came off of, and that is why I was hoping someone could assist me in figuring out what rotor that I need...

We took a measurement of the rotor, and it was approximately 295mm, so I am hpoing that I got a set where I can just swap straight over.

I hope you can too, I was promised that it was a direct swap to my 190E ( and I think many calipers are) but after spending $ to powder coat and rebuild and buy cross drilled rotors, i got bad news and no good luck. If you figure out what they are let me know, I have a set of brand new zimmerman cross drilled front rotors with 2 miles on them and a very and I say very, minor groove on the passenger rotor on the inside where it contacted the ball joint knuckle. IT would not effect the function or safety one bit and would likely go away after a few hundred miles being how it is so very minor and shallow. Just enough that a return was not possible though. I do believe that these rotor were from a E400 series with 295mm rotors, I can measure them if you figure out what you need, I just want some of my $ back from these new rotors so that they will go away. Good luck... PS I have a completly rebuilt red powdercoated pair of front calipers that I dont need too, from a 92-93 W124, I have the vin somewhere, my measurements againts yoursmight help you determine what you have.
