I stopped by a shop the other day to get a quote for getting a new chain rolled into my '84 300D (I know you all say it isn't necessary, but it will make me sleep better at night). Anyway, the guy told me it would take 7-8 hours! It was all I could do to keep a poker face and not bust out laughing. So for those of you who have had a new chain rolled in, how much did you pay? I'm thinking I may just rent the tool from IMPCO and do it myself, these shops are rediculous - they also told me it would take 2-3 hours for 1 ball joint!

I'm in Rochester, NY. But I am moving to DC in a month, so CJ, can you please tell me where in Baltimore you got the job done for $350? I'll be calling them soon.

I got it done at Roy Field's Mercedes in Baltimore. He is a very nice and knowledgable guy and will NOT rip you off. I highly recomend him. When I bought my MBZ he did the pre-buyers inspection, saved me $2,300 in repairs. The shop is on York Road in Timonium.
