whats the wiring for???

I have a 1994 c280. I pulled out the cassette storage from the central dash to replace it with an updated storage tray ($twelve dollars and change at the dealer, what a deal, never used the cassette storage anyway...a waste of space) and found wiring behind it with a piece of foam wrapped around it. there was also another clasp with wiring that appeared to be part of the same harness. Anyone know what its for?? thanks in advance.

A picture would help out.
It could be for a cell phone key pad.

I had a phone in 1978. It was really a fancy Motorola two way radio that connected somehow to the phone system. The phone itslef looked just like a regular slim-line rotary dial phone, and yes, it had a rotary dial. It was not duplex, meaning, only one person could talk and the other had to listen. There was no butting in.

I had it in my all black 76 Mark IV. I was pimpin.....

You wouldn't happen to have a picture of that would you? It sounds really cool!

I wish I did.

The phone was bolted to the trans hump and looked just like a regular slim-line home phone. There was a huge cable that ran under the carpet to the trunk. Bolted to one side of the trunk was a really big electronic box. If I recall, maybe 18" x 12" by 4". I do remember it had a big heat sink on it. And then the trunk antenna that was about 9"tall.

And back in 1978, if I recall correctly, the bill was about a buck a minute, even if they called you. Needless to say, after the first month, I changed the number and only gave it to certain people.
