Leaking A/C compressor? - W210 E420
I put some dye in the system several weeks ago since I was having to charge the system every 3 months or so (just one can).
The compressor is slightly leaking around the pulley. Looking at the picture of a new compressor, I do not believe it is leaking from a hose since those are further back and on top of the compressor. It is clearly leaking from the clutch/pulley area in the front. Any experience or guidance with a similar problem? |
Take it to a A/C rebuild facility and have the front seal replaced. Make sure you change the receiver-dryer and attached pressure switches. Make sure they pump the system down throughly before adding freon back into the system. Also check the low/high pressure valves where you attach gauges for a leak. I just replaced mine. You can tell if it's leaking when you remove the cap off of the valve. You will hear a hiss and will also see dye.

Thanks!
Would you say I am better of having mine rebuild, or to by a rebuilt one? If so, what are good brands of rebuilt compressors? |
Just have them put a new seal in your compressor.
