Problem starting 300E Starts In Any and All Gears
 
I have read several posts about 300E not starting. Turn the key and no sound at all. My MB 300E will start in any and all gears. Could the problem starting still be attributed to the Neutral Safety Switch?

have you tried it in neutral? try holding the key in the start position and slowly move through all gears and see if it starts

It won't start in any gear when it dosen't make a sound when key is turned Haven't tried holding key in start position and cycling through gears. Will give it a try when and if it happens again.

Well, which is it? Does it start in any position or does it NOT start in any position?

Either way, the switch on the side of the tranny is suspect.

Car won't start again. Tried cycling through gears while holding key in on position. No luck.

Now I hear some clicking noise under the hood; not the battery though.

Any suggestions.
