2000 E320 won't start -need help

All lights and radio come on - engine will not crank at all - no clicking noises - just silence under the hood. Things to check? Have intermittent lights come on and off in past weeks. BAS comes on and then goes off -is this related to some other electrical prob that is now affecting the starting? Not a mechanical person:o

Thanks

The fact that anything else works is absolutely no gauge of whether your battery can energize the starter. I do not suggest jumping these cars. Rapid voltage changes from bad connections can take out controllers as they boot and fail to boot quickly over and over. Try plugging your PC in through a switch and open and close it like a set of flashing lights and see what happens to your info.

If you can't verify battery volatge while attempting to crank the car, you are advised to seek someone who can. Putting a ngood battery in is also a plan but you also will loose numerous memories and an occasional SAM.

If the battery voltage is OK while attempting to crank, verify the gear position in the instrument cluster. A shift module not talking would not tell that it's in park.

If you have a home battery changer, You may also want to try an over-night battery charge [ low setting]..
That should get a possible low battery voltage back up for further testing. When battery is fully charged , give it another go......
This would be better than a jump and you won't loose any memory.

I agree with Steve and others. On my E230 wagon, I had your exact problem and a new Mercedes battery fixed it.

I was surprised how many amps the system must pull to turn over.

E320 doesn't start.

Same problem on our 2003 e320. While at the light, the car stalled & turned off, doesn't want to start. All electrical components work (light, radio, alarm, etc). Speculating it's the fuel pump. Not sure yet, since it just happened a few days ago & the new pump is on it's way.
