Hair in my W124 exhaust?

Hello,

After a spirited run in my T124 E280 yesterday I noticed something hanging from the exhaust. When I looked closer I noticed that what looks and feels like hair was coming out of the tail pipe. I pulled it away (about 30 cm long piece and say 40 strands) and there seems to be more up there.
Has anyone any idea what this is or am I trapped in a Stephen King novel and its the hair of a victorian ghost?
Thanks
Toby

Did you happen to get a picture? I'm going with the ghost theory at this point since I've never heard of anyone having a hairy exhaust.

I'm not sure what is composed in the innards of the cats or resonators (if you have them) upstream, but it might be packing working itself loose?

I read somewhere that its built up dirt, with long pieces of grass growing from it.

Hair

Was it a long, fine straight one or a short, curly coarse one?

If it was a Jaguar, or a Cougar, I think it would be a hair-ball!

It's part of the composition of one of your resonators or mufflers. On the other hand you could have a family of midget raccoons, nesting in there and you sent a hurricane through their home!

YUP, it's been a looong Winter...

Yeah i think its the packing material in the exhaust. I just had to re-do the packing on my motorcycles exhaust can, the packing material is long strands bunched together to silence the exhaust note. Did you notice any difference in sound when you started removing the strands?
