Ansa OK?

I recently (Dec) purchased an '89 560SL with low miles (currently 18K). The previous owner discovered that the original muffler had rusted from the inside-out, so he replaced it with an Ansa prior to listing the car.

Any opinions out there on the Ansa brand? BTW I really enjoy the exhaust note, a nice deep V8 rumble.

Wink

Ansa has been around for about 40 years.
It is not a " premium " muffler,as it is constructed of mild steel, but does give a nice sound.
Just leave it on.

I installed an Ansa center muffler when the OEM gave out after about 8 years. The Ansa also lasted about 8 years. Just installed the 3rd, also an Ansa, last year. The rear muffler doesn't warm up near as quickly, thus I am on my 6th Midas muffler - they go about 2-3 years back there, but the price is certainly good......free for the last 5.

I've used ANSA exhaust parts in the past, I agree with Manny.

I'd grade them C+ to a B- , don't bother to change it but realize its not going to last more than 4-5 years.

Next time replace it w/ an Eberspacher and you'll get an easy 10-15 years here in Atlanta, possibly longer if you don't take your SL out in the rain.

We replaced the muffler on our old 560 SL w/ an EB, fitment was perfect and sound was Just right!

If the rest of your exhaust gets tired there is a fair bit of power/efficiency to be had by installing proper a custom system w/ high flow cats etc..
