Hello AC Control console bulbs

C'Mon.... somebody out there has done it before. I need to replace these bulbs.. I looked in the archives for past jobs and could find none for the 1998 E430.. I could try to just pull it off but I don't want to crack anything.....

Thanks

You must remove the pushbutton controller. To do this you need to insert the two special tools (same as the radio tools) and pull the unit. The bulb or bulbs can be removed from the bottom.

Can you post a picture of the console? I know how to remove an '81 380SL and replace with FROSTED bulbs as opposed to the brighter CLEAR bulbs. If your covers are generic M/B, then a simple removal of ash tray and a pull on the cover should get you where you want to be. Sorry, I don't know about your E340. I have yet to tear into our '01 S430.

phouse,

I read your reply almost instantly to mine as I was shutting down computers around me and going home. I restarted my WIS computer and looked all over for a tool number for the "keys".

Normally every tool described in a service job has its MB part # in a section at the end of the article. I went to the radio section and saw the tools again but still no number. I went to the tool by group number listing and no tool. Sooo. I do not know how to buy them from MB. I do know that Becker Radio people have them and BTW, we are Becker radio people, and have them in stock. www.continentalimports.com

I would have just said that but my radio people were all gone and I have no idea about cost or the part number.
