how to remove egr tube/pipe - 91 560 sel
I failed NOx smog test in CA and I need to remove the egr tubes to clean-up. The vacuum test on the egr at idle also failed my testing ( egr holds vacuum, but idle does not go rough when vacuum is applied). It appears challenging to remove the tube at the intake manifold. Any advice on how to remove the tube would be appreciated.
Also, where can I purchase the egr tubes? thx |

To do that the intake manifold must be removed.
Possibly you could SNAKE the tube with a section of the inner part of a speedo cable & drill motor w/o disassembly.

A shop just did this for me. I failed NOX. EGR valve was failing and tube was plugged. They replaced valve and solenoid and cleaned the tube. I asked them how they clean the tube and he said he did it "thru the throttle body". Apparently the tube typically clogs at the inaccessible intake end and not at the accessible egr valve end. As I mentioned in another thread, since I failed at a Test Only facility, the state of CA paid $500 of the $860 bill to get the car to pass.
