Speedo. cable

1987 260E
If I remove the instrument cluster will I be able to pull the centre of the speedo. cable out without going beneath the vehicle, or can it be removed from below without removing the inst. cluster.I know the speed. works. Are there any locking clips etc. holding the inner cable.

Thanks Michael

I'm not sure on your model, but the W123s use a cable that cannot be taken out of the housing. It must be disconnected at both ends. I would guess the 260E is the same.

There are fittings soldered on each end. If you can pull the center out that means that it has come apart and you would have to remove the other end. Then there would be the problem of getting the new center part in with the end fittings on it.

Better just replace the whole thing.
