w126 280Se climate control

My W126 280Se's climate control isn't working properly. Sometimes the Fan works ok and then it'll just stop this can last for a few seconds to a week.
Any Ideas Mark

Climate Control Gremlins

I am encountering the identical problem with my 1995 E320. Yesterday I was stopped at a traffic light in 96 degree Houston, Texas weather and the blower stops. When I arrived at my destination, I pulled the fuse and, while it appeared to be good, I replaced it just to be safe. When I restarted the car the blower ran fine. I shut down the engine and went in.

However, when I later started for home the blower would not work. Just before I arrived at home, I tried it for the fourth time and IT WORKED. Twice today I started the car and the blower worked fine. I have seen this same problem posted on other MB boards , but never a reply.

If you get the answer, please let me know.

my dad's acura did this when his blower motor was on the way out, however, if he turned the blower off before he killed the car, and tapped his gas pedal twice before shuting it off, it worked fine. ALso, if he went about 65 with the vent button switched the blower would kick on. this may help

Lightbulb w126 280se climate control

I posted last evening that I was encountering the same problem with my 1995 E320. Today I talked with my MB Tech and he says that in 90% of the cases on vehicles over 100,000 miles, but under 200,000 miles, it is the blower regulator that has failed. He said it probably is not the blower intself unless the car is over 200,000 miles. I am taking it in for service tomorrow. If it is the blower regulator I will get out for $550 USD.

Thanks for your input Gentlemen, I'm going to call the Mercedes dealership today and see what they have to say.
Will let you know.
One mechanic said it maybe a worn out ignition switch and the accessories aren't engaging properly, if it is that atleast it would be cheap to repair.

Mark: It turned out to be a hairline crack in an aluminum strap (or strip) fuse. They had to use a magnifying glass to verify it. I got the fuse replaced and my AC serviced (recharged refrigerant) and got away for $248 USD. I hope you are as fortunate.
