no overdrive on S320
Ladies and gentlemen,
After finally getting the car up and running after a two month ordeal getting the trans. rebuilt, I have found that overdrive is not engaging whatsoever. I bought the car with a bad trans., so I don't know if it worked before the rebuilt, but an MB tech did the work and said he replaced the fifth gear clutch. Where should I start looking to diagnose the problem? At this point I assume it's an electrical problem. Thanks David |
By having the trans computer scanned for codes.
Does the shift gate stay in the "D" position? or slide over to "4". |
Yes, it stays in D and can be pushed over into 4th without much force.
Thanks David |
I just spoke with the MB dealer in town and they said there is no trans. computer to scan for codes. He said they would have to diagnose it themselves for such a problem.
Thanks David |
They are incorrect! there is acomputer for that 722.5_ trans & it will store codes!

M.B.DOC,
Is it scanned from the same large round plug under the hood where other codes are scanned? Thanks David |
Yes...pin # 10...ECT 5
There are 10 codes possible, #1 means no fault. |
