Connector for ETA - and rewire
I will start this project soon (rewire the ETA). I read somewhere in the forum someone found a source (peachparts?) for the end connector of the harness.
If someone knows where to locate this source or connector please point me in the right direction. Another couple of things, those of you who have rewired it before: Did you replace the throttle body gasket? How did you detach the ball from the linkage, does it just pops off? Thanks.

Check out this link.
O2 sensor electronics testing There is also another link where someone with a V-12 rebuild his. http://v12uberalles.com/throttle_actuator_rewire.htm I bought the ETA cable harness, but before I got around to replacing it, my car was totaled. I ended up giving the harness to the tech at the dealer who was dealing with a 500E with a bad ETA harness and an owner who was at the end of his rope throwing money at it. The ETA cable is not a part the dealer normally stocks. The tech had an even bigger problem because the ETA canon plug connector on the 500E was not the 90 degree type like mine. I'm not sure if he was successful in working around this. He said it was a good customer and was going to do what he could to keep him happy. There is a paper-thin gasket for the ETA and a rubber boot as well. They should be changed but they are really cheap at the dealer. Good luck and let us know how it went.

You guys know that the ETA plug design changed on 4.2s and 5.0s as a result of a running production change right? I don't know exactly when but it was for sure during 93 or 94. (My early 93 has the older style.)

That sounds right because my early 93 400E had the 90-degree style canon plug and my 94 E420 has the straight style. I don't know if the ETA cable harness with the straight style is available as a separate part from Mercedes. You might have to take out the Q-tips and glue and rebuild it like the guy with the V-12 did.

Thanks guys.
The connector is not 90 degrees. It is a straight plug. I just want to build the harness and have it ready before I remove the ETA from the car. I wonder if they sell it at the dealer, since they used to sell the 90 degree type. Does anyone knows the part number for the new one? Or the part number for the connector?:

I would be surprised if they sold the straight connector by itself. Otherwise this guy wouldn't have taken the effort to split the old connector and splice in a new harness.

Condition of wires in ETA
Job done, just look and the condition of the wires in the ETA harness.
No wonder the car would not be without an ASR-Limp mode condition. LOL

Did you reuse your old straight connector for the ETA cable?

And by the way, I could not put it back together (the plug).
I used half of it, wrapped it in electrical tape and inserted it into the receptacle. I wish I had found this pictures earlier. This is a much easier and clean way to do it.

Cutting it horizontally does appear to look easier than splitting it down the seam. Was the whole operation a success?

I will find out if it was a success once I finish replacing the fuel line and the starter.
The line from the filter to the engine cracked and started leaking badly. I could not unscrew/separate the fuel line union (hose from filter to engine fuel line, it was rust welded). I will update once it is completed.
