alternator question
ok so i know you can get a saab altenrator to fit on the mercedes .. but my question is will it hurt anything if i put a 120 amp alt on my car ? what if i even went up to a 150 amp alt ? reason is my car stereo pulls allot of juice and i need the extra for it .. but im afraid of frying something .. i dont always have the stereo blasting away so would all the extra amps be harmful ?
my car is a 300 se 1988 3.0L |
It's a popular upgrade to install the higher amperage alternator from a V-8 S-Class into the W201 when the bass beat of the stereo starts to strobe the headlights. ;)

The alternator will only create enough amperage to handle the load.
What you will want to do is repalce the flimsy stock wiring to the alt with some 0 gauge wire. That's all I did whenI swapped out the 65amp alt for the 115amp one on the 300SD. |
ok cuz i have two 900 watt amps and 6 12's im putting in ..
i have done the "Big 3" wire upgrade and it helped a little .. now i just want to get plenty of juice thanks for your help .. ive never upgraded an alternator that puts out twice the stock output |
