Well hello all again, I am curious of anyone knows how to help me, i am trying to put wires thru a '86 300E, I am a volunteer marine rescuer, and I have a lightbar for my trunk, so when it is open it warns others, well I need to get the plug end to my ac supply in the front of the car, under the glove compartment, the wire is long enough, i just dont know how to do it. thanks!

I'm not sure if your car is the same or not, but on the W140 the wire harness passes from the passenger compartment to the trunk under the rear seat on the driver's side. I imagine the design should be similar on your car. Pull the cushion of the rear seat and take a look.

yeah i did, after cleaning all the diirt and sand, i found all the wiring, but I really dont know how to get a wire to pass thru the one of many holes that wires come from. =\ i might just have to take it into an audio shop or something and ask them to do it.

  • Get a wire coat hanger and straighten it out.
  • Bend a small loop in one end.
  • Poke the hanger through from the trunk to the inside.
  • Loop your wire through the loop in the hanger and wrap with electrical tape.
  • Pull the coat hanger and your wire back through!

Put the inline fuse in the trunk

Install the in line fuse in the trunk so it is an easy get to if needed.

Find a separate ground location , not a harness or existing ground location so the signal freq does not transfer to the system ground and screw up the radio, etc reception.

Is it a std light bar (7 to 9 light w/ direction/pattern control box) or just a dual light unit? I use a Superior Signals Traffic manager lite stick on my F 150 all the time and the controller and wiring are still in place. I keep the stick behind the seat and have used it in emergency and traffic assist situations using 4 in speaker magnets on the feet to stick it to the top of the cab.

yours is the rear deck install unit correct?

I agree with all the above except the location of the fuse. Put the fuse as close as possible to the source so if something happens to the wire, the car will be protected. An unfused wire under the carpet can total a car. I have seen it happen.

You can use that same hanger to pull the wires under the carpet on the transmission tunnel and get them up to the dash.
You'll skin a knuckle.
