96 C220 Transmission Shifts

Hi, my C220 with 280k+ miles still drives very well. Its well maintained and never had any overhauls. Some oil drips but nothing too bad to warrant any work. Just have to tighten that coolant bypass hose clamp occassionaly as it seems to loose fluid thru there.

Only thing I've noticed is the "thuds" when it shifts up. Its very mild but I am wondering if it can be eliminated. Unlike the 300Ds, I have not played with the vacuum system of this car yet.

Is there anything that can be adjusted?
Where would I start checking?

Thanks

C220

I have the same problem with the exact same year and model C220. But mine flares from 2nd gear to 3rd gear and it downshifts really hard with a thud. Please let me know what you find out about this problem
