Stiff hydro-pneumatic rear end..
The rear suspension of my 1998 E320 wagon feels very stiff, almost rock hard sometimes. The MBZ dealer says it's just a "tight" car at 50,000 miles.
Is there any way to soften the rear struts via the auto-level system??? Intruder |

I also noticed that the W210 wagons rode kind of hard in a way. I think you just have to live with it. I don't know of any way to adjust the dampening. When I was a dealer tech, we didn't see any problems with those systems, only the AirMatic suspensions on the W220 S-Class. Those had pump problems thanks to DC's brilliant engineers placing the pumps where they could suck water in and hydro-lock themselves.

Thanks,
It's more comforting knowing it's not just me. My 1991 300E never rode this stiffly and I was concerned. Is it difficult to "flush" the system??????? Intruder |
