Oil leak and transmission leak

I have a 1994 e320. I went to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. They said I have excessive oil leak and excessive transmission leak.

What can cause this? Can any one recommend a good shop around Fremont?

Get thee to a Good Independent Shop!

Jiffy Lube is known for BS. They have been exposed numerous times as having unqualified or unscrupulous techs.

Before i would take their word that it was raing I'd have to go outside and be wet for 10 minutes!

Go to the shops forum and check for a good local Independent Shp, take your 320 there and see what they say. Do not tell them anything when you bring it in just get an oil/filter change and see what they say afterwards.

An honest shop will tell you about a problem, take you to the car on the lift and show you what and how it can be fixed. It could be a simple fix, it could be more serious.

Jiffy Lube techs make their bucks upselling you in crap you donlt need and that they don;t actually do 70% of the time.

I don't let my mother in law, boss or anyone I actually give a crap about darken their doors.

Stoney, The tech said they cant fix those issues in their facility and was also unable to recommend any shop. I doubt they would try to upsell service they cant offer.

Fremont, CA? Gotta be an Indy Tech there...

As I said...did you check the Shops link for a local Indy? Obviously not.

Witholding information from someone you need help from isn't a good idea. Any halfway decent shop will quickly realize the oil has been changed recently. This may cause them to ask, WTF??? Just be honest, and ask them to check for any fluid leaks that might cause further trouble.

What are the severity of the leaks? Is it just minor weeping or is it bad enough that you are seeing oil stains on your driveway/garage floor? If it's just weeping, I would leave it alone and make sure the fluids are topped up. Of all the German cars I've owned, none have ever been immune to minor fluid leaks.

If you must find a repair shop and you are a member of Auto Club (AAA), ask for a recommendation. I will only go to AAA Approved shops if I absolutely must have someone else do the repair.

where is "mercedes only"?

I got it checked at midas, they said it might be a head gasket leak and referred me to an indy shop. He said he will check for no charge on Monday.

Let me see if I've got this right. The Jiffy Lube told you that your car had a couple of leaks, but they couldn't tell you anything else. You then started a thread here, in the Tech Help section (smart move), where you were advised to search through the "Good Shops" section. So you went to a Midas muffler shop???.

That chassis is famous for a head gasket oil leak on the right/rear parting line and from the front lip seal.
It is a major repair.
Do a serch on 104 Head Gasket and you will have tons of info to read.....

Well, I called Midas and asked them if they did general repair. He said ... come on in. You have to know I am not only to the US, I am also new to Mercedes and also new to maintaining a car. I always used to take my car to the dealer back home. I do appreciate all your help and assistance. Helps me learn.

Thank you for the address. I will call them up.

"That chassis is famous for a head gasket oil leak on the right/rear parting line and from the front lip seal. It is a major repair." - Is this something I should invest in getting done for such an old car? But otherwise engine is in awesome condition, so is the rest of the car.

That chassis was a greats one and still looks good ..
The problem they had were 3 , all expensive..
Head Gasket
Wire Harness
A/c evaporator

The good news is the gasket was modified and the new one seems to hold up [ providing you get the right brand]
The Harness has been trouble free after the change [ no longer bio-degradeable insulation..or at least a better type]
Evap...some leaked , some didn't..yor call on how important a/c is to you.

The car has been known to go 300K easy with the new repairs and most owners that have them have bitten those bullits and are still happily driving the car. I prefer them over later 210 , but that is just my preference..they certainly merit credit in my book and the 104 engine is close to perfection for an in-line 6 ...very smooth and power to boot.
The Midas guys are going to know Nothing about these concerns, I can almost gaurantee you that............
The "Midas Touch" means don't let them touch your car.....
