Mysterious Lamp Defect Warning light on 97 W210 E320
Can anyone help me out regarding the lamp defect warning light on my 97 E320. I have replaced the original head light and parking light with super white halogen head light and blue parking light of the same wattage. Once in a while the lamp defect warning light will light up despite everything working fine. The only mal functioning I find is that the left and right parking light will not go on individually when I turn the light switch to left and extreme left. But they would both go on simultaneously when I turn on the parking lights together or when I shut the doors. I also checked the rear brake lights and everything works fine.
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Ken 97 E320 |

I think the lamp failure sensor will read an imbalance of power between lamps as a 'failure' so if your headlight pair, running lamp pair, stop lamp/tail lamp pair aren't 'balanced' they can cause a false failure indication.
We had an intermittent failure indication in our '96 E300 Diesel. It turned out the left rear lamp housing had been damaged by the DPO (Dreaded Previous Owner) and the contacts were damaged and would fail occasionally. You might have a look at your connections, a slightly loose connection could be doing it. BCingU, Jim |
