Wanting some information on 1995 mercedes E320 purchase. Can anyone tell me if this is a good year for a MB? Also, what I might look for on one before purchasing. Like what problems they maybe noted as having if any Thanks!

Great car.....'94 is basically the same car.

Ask if these 3 have been addressed:
Head Gasket
Ware Harness
A/C Evap.

Those are the weak points , but most have been fixed by now
Do a search on this forum using those words

One feature that was an option that you don't want is ASR.

If any or all of the items like head gasket, evaporator or the wiring harness haven't been replace. Would you keep looking, and forget about the car? Those would appear to be thousands to replace I would think.

Arthur, There are rumors that the seller has a 96% rating for a reason. I would be very cautious dealing with those people.

I second that. They are usually overpriced and their cars linger for a very long time...

I would look elsewhere for two reasons..
One , on a WELL maintained e320, these have already been addressed.
Many owners see the oil leak at the back of the head and are told that it does nor effect compression or water problem, so they let it go due to $$$ involved , whereas a preventive main type would just fix it, specially knowing it will get worse. And the ones that do get the head gasket usually get the harness at the same time b/c a bad harness falls apart when doing the gasket.
And don't let a low miles one fool you..they are the least likely to have the inevident failures of the cars weaknesses come due yet...but they will.
And two, an adverage , nice looking one without any evidence of harness or gasket repair being done is most likely for sale b/c they have reared their head and the owner has decided to dump before fixing those high $$$ items.

Pay MORE for one that has repair documentation/reciepts and you will be the Winner and have a great chassis.
If the seller makes like he knows nothing , I would be suspect. And any guy that has had these done will point it out to you before you even ask, just cuz he wants the table cleareed before you even ask. That is the guy you want to buy from.
Of couse, if you are at a Used Car palce..well, good luck and ask if you can go get it inspected by a BenzHead or Indie...
Reciepts are the best insurance...

I was just posting it as an example b/c of the beauty of that one..it is a pretty car, with low miles and Some very good pictures, specially of the interior..nice promo job and I will give the guy $8K for it ...

Those Cabs are acually starting to become collectable, but I see them all the time for short $$$.
The sedan is what a practical owner wants. But he can easliy get stung if he doesn't know what we all are posting..
I would buy another one and I am a perticular buyer and could buy any model I want , so I am a 94/95-124 chassis fan.
If one wants to get a decent middle of the road Benz for reletively short $$$ [ compared to new or any other used car] , this can be [ note the CAN here] very good choice.
I have seen so many owners of these spend the $$$ on the upgrades, even though expensive, just b.c they love that car so much.
You will see tons of post here attesting to that and tons of other owners that ask if they should upgade to a later model b/c they are afraid of being disappointed when they get rid of the 124....
Condition is the factor over price on this model....Your call.

Charles Schmitt? In business for 54 years with obviously some incredible product, and also high prices. I don't actually know them but know that eBay ratings are pretty much meaningless - pretty easily rigged. I've heard of dealers that don't let you pick up the car until you give them the positive feedback. Interesting that you would think 96 percent approval rating is suspect. I woud consider that very good for any dealer that is not rigging the system - but again I don't actually know them.

PS - the shooter at Va Tech had a great eBay rating, something very close to 100 percent, indicative of someone with fine character.

If you have the vin for a car is there a place you can go to to check the mb records on the car and see what maintenance has been done on it? The car is a 95 e320 70K miles on it and party wants 5K for it.

Fair price and the Dealer can look it up. Problem there is most guys drop the Dealer after the warr. runs out and then go to Indies..that's where the owner reciepts are cool confirmation.
There is also a site here from Russia that will tell you all the options on that car.
Try the search feature , or someone here will post it.

A GOOD sedan will run $4-5K, Wagon 5-6K, and Cab 10K
Private sales/adverage milage/No rust.

If you had a chance to buy 95 E320 with 70K for 5K or a 95 E300 with 195K on the odometer for 8K which would be the best choice?

I'd sure go for the gas, but actually that sounds too cheap to me. My experience tells me that cars that are too cheap need to really be investigated for their hidden secret.
