What does this warning light mean?
I have a 1998 CLK320 and recently the ASR/BAS warning light comes on when I start the car. I pushed the ASR off button but it did not do anything. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Easiest thing to do, would be to have it checked for fault codes, and go from there. On an older chassis, I would've suspected either a brakelight switch, or a dirty wheel sensor - but I haven't a clue on the newer models.

my money is on brake light switch but get the faults read first.

90% its the switch...
But with the incestious wiring and cross talk in the newer models, a confirmation of the codes in the storeage memory and double checking the applicable database would be best.
Hey at least yours can be read, my buddy has an earlier W124 whose ASR has been giving him fits for 18 months, glad its not on my ride. |
