w201 & w124 suspension swap?

I have a 1991 300D that has received considerable upgrading and maintenance. Since purchasing, I have installed new bilstien HD shocks, performance drilled/slotted rotors, performance pads, and coil springs all around. I won't even get into the damage I did to my wallet under the hood. I picked up a 1988 190D 2.5 as an investment and possible quick turn for profit to feed my benz habit. I made the mistake of letting my wife drive it. (the aforementioned 300D is her car). Well, she fell in love with it. Now I have to sell the 300D. I can't bear the thought of letting all that beautiful suspension go down the road with someone else. The only way I'll ever get my money and labor out of this car is to drive it until they bury me in it. But then I thought..... maybe there is another way out! I could swap the suspension from the 124 into the 201. Or can I? Therein my benz brothers lies the question that no one seems to have the answer for. Someone please tell me that this is possible (and if not, break it to me gently) I await your response.

Everything but the coils should be transferable. The W124 OEM springs are going to lift the W201. Even if the springs are lowering units for the W124 it will still lift the car.

The later model W201's used the W124 control arms, spindles, brakes.

saying that ~~~ can i assume that a set of w201 stock springs would lower a w124? and a set of w201 lowering springs would semi slam a w124?

You'd have to check with W124 owners that have tried it, but I would have to assume that if you're using the OEM 2.6L 190 front springs, it's going to lower the W124 some, while the car will really drop if using the 4 or 5 cylinder W201 fronts.

so.... you're saying I can swap the new rotors and shocks? That would be great! The coil springs aren't that expensive or difficult to replace. Thanks. Any tips or hints from anyone would be appreciated.
