W140 Evaporator change video tape

I have been looking all over for the instructional tape that covers a evaporator change in the W140.

Germanstar have been selling it as a DVD, but I have been in contact with them and they can not find the video any more.

There must be a copy of it somewhere? Some shop have to be selling it? The question is just where to look...

Thanks for any help!

evaporator change

I don't know if video would help that much replacing your evaporator but I'm sure that it would help in certain areas. I replaced mine without video but I did made many pictures withing the process. I also printed some pictures from alldatadiy.com that cover evaporator replacement and wires mechanism removal. It is a very good idea to have zip-lock bags to keep bolts and nuts and mark them with area those bolts came out from.
The job itself is not that hard. It's very labor intensive thought and I would not recommend taking few days breaks withing the process. It took me a week to do but it was very hard to come back to work on it after few days because i forgot where certain components used to be and what bolts they were held by.

Good luck

You might want to investigate the new AC stop leak compounds that are now available. I fixed the one in my 140 and 3 yrs later it was still holding charge..

Just for kicks here is a time-lapse video of me changing the evaporator in my R129 - pretty similar job. I followed the procedures in the MB-Star service manual DVD. Like others have said, its a labor intensive job but isn't hard. You will need some A/C skills and equipment when it comes time to pull a vacuum on your system and recharge it.
