Oil change confusion C240
I am a new member living in Maui. I am a reasonably competent shade tree mechanic and I am confused about changing the oil in my 2003 C240. If I decide to use an oil extractor, since I don't have a dipstick, how do I extract the oil? Secondly, what is standard, a paper or fleece oil filter? Finally, my neighbor with an E320 just had his oil changed, price $198.00. Anybody in Maui know a good Mercedes shop?

I believe you have a dipstick tube with a cap on it. The cap comes off. At least that is what my daughter's 2005 C230Kompressor Sport has. Jim

I just did the A Service on my C280 last weekend. It took less than an hour to 1) R&R the Hengst fleece oil filter and oil; 2) R&R the engine air filter; R&R the Bosch cabin filter and to do the inspections, check fluids and reset the dash reminder.
Ordered everything but the oil online, delivered to Honolulu, and the total with shipping, including the 8 qt of Mobil 1 was just under $100. |
If you already had a fluid extractor then use it. If you're planning to buy one, MityVac model 7201 is the one to get. I had one and had been using it for 4-5 years without problems.
