92 400E - Hard start and boggin during acceleration

Hey guys,

Just this week, my car has started to act funny. It starts up fine in the morning on my way to work. When I go to leave for lunch, it will fire, then die, and then just crank, until I give it gas. Once it fires, it wants to die, so I keep on the gas a little. After about 30 seconds, it runs fine like nothing happened. Just yesterday, I was coming back from lowes, and I went to give it gas, and nothing. It felt like a 2 stroke that wasnt warmed up yet, and just bogggged. It did this for about 3 minutes, and then it was fine, and didnt do it again.

Whats going on with this car? Is it the MAF sensor? I replaced all the ignition parts about 60K ago. My wiring harness has never been done, but never has been a problem. It feels like a fuel or mixture issue. If I unplug the MAF, will the car run on a default program?

Thanks!

Andy

Check the fault codes - likely to have some. I wouldn't assume 60k mile ignition parts are not the problem.

Seeing any black smoke out the back?

My ex 93 400E blew the fuel pressure regulator and it didn't set any codes.

Hard to start, sluggish, would die when you got off the gas for a turn.....

Had mucho high fuel pressure, running very rich.

Ok, I checked the fuel pressure last night, and its right at 50lbs at idle. When giving it gas, it rises a little. So therefore I dont think its a fuel pressure issue.

I didnt have a chance to pull codes yet. I will see if I can do that tonight.

Has it really been sixty thousand miles since you've replaced caps and rotors?

If so, then I am impressed that it ran well for this long.
