E320 94 sticky iddle

Lately my wagon has developed a strange idle problem. When lifting the foot off the gas pedal the idle drops very slow. I can see a 2-4 sec delay until the idle drops from 1000 to 750. What should I look for?
It has the same feeling like the engine braking on manual transmissions. It is accompanied by a wining noise when down shifts.

Since that has electronic controls...using a scanner on the ea/cc/isc computer might shed some light.

You might try scrubbing the throttle assembly.

No codes whatsoever, check engine light is not on.
I suspect a vacuum leak, vacuum actuator or a faulty fuel pressure regulator.
What do you think?

Could be a stuck Bowden? I am also experiencing some trany slippage in 2-3 and 3-4.
Please help .. I ran out of options

Where did you check for codes ???????????

radunegru 05-12-2008 10:11 PM

Went to my mechanic last week and he had a scanner that actuality displays the codes in a readable form sparing me from the hassle to count the pulses. He said that there are no codes.
What I am asking is that a too stretched or a pinched Bowden cable could create this problem. I was trying to adjust the cable and no results. It looks like there is no effect on how much I am turning the plastic knob on the cable.
