steering box adjustment on 76 300D
I need to take some slop out of the steering wheel...I dont have access to a rolling torque wrench.
What is a good rule of thumb to best determine how many turns (or partial turns) I can (should) make to clear up some of the slop? Robert 76 300D (115 chassis) |
I had a recent post on my sloppy steering box on my 84 190E.
The advice I got was to back off on the adjuster lock nut and turn the screw COUNTERclockwise. Small increments were advised, such as maybe quarter or half turns. I checked the shop manual and saw the reference to the rolling torque wrench. I could have used that settting up my differential. |
