1985 190E odometer not working
 

Any idea what would cause odometer not to work,speedo works fine

The VDO odometer, also used in Volvo and Porsche, is prone to gear slippage and eventual failure. It is particularly sensitive when it is reset while the car is moving, hastening failure.

DIY repair instructions are on the forum, but there's no telling when it will fail again. There are also shops that repair them.

Make sure you get both gears or you'll be doing the job twice.
