I have a Mercedez 300 SDL 1987 oil light is on and I check oil quantity and is OK the gaeg Pressure is on 3 Always when I turn on the Engine Could it be the sensor? If some body had experience this before I will be happy with your comments.

The sensor is a simple switch that is grounded when the level is proper. Unplugging it will cause the light to come on. Jumping the connector to ground should turn the light off.

Because it would be unsettling to see the light come on and off when cornering or braking hard, the signal is dampened in the gauge. I forget the strategy but it won't come right on. It could take 20 seconds or so.

Is it on 3 when the motor is off? When the motor is off but key is on?

So your gauge is not working either. That is more important than the light. It is likely the sending unit.

One measures pressure, another detects level (or lack of).

Fastlane sells them too, btw.
