Swapping out US headlight for Euro and have a question about the interior switch
Hey all,
I bought a 'euro' light replacement for my 91 560SEL. It waws enough to swap out the connectorrs to get the lights to turn on, and of course installing them was pretty straightforward. I don't get, though, what is the extra numerical three position switch for on the interior switch to operate thelights, and how do I connect it? I must be missing something to get this to work, but not sure how I go about this, and what exactly that switch is for. Is it to raise/loweer the position of the headlights? If so, I have no idea how to go about installing whatever it needs to operate. Searching the web brought me to ALL KINDS of information on nothing related to what I'm asking. Any idea? Thanks, Craig

I am not much of a hands on guy ,but I inquired about the same installation proceeder for my 1992 300E. The switch to raise and lower the headlight for rear load adjustments has to be T-ed in to a vacuum source. Does your car have a vacuum gauge for MPG on the instrument cluster? You can T-into that vacumn source. in order for the swith to raise and lower the headlights.
If you PM off line I will look into my books on instructions I have on this. Or if you want ask Phil at fast lane he is the local expert and can help you get the right parts for your modification. Hope it works out I am still not there yet. Bob Geco 1992 300-E sportline Last edited by Bob G; 05-10-2008 at 10:33 PM. Reason: spelling |
