Hello,i Have A Question,on My E 320 Sw 1995 I Noticed That When I Engage The Reverse It Take Some Time To Engage, the Car Has 138.000 Miles Runs Great And So Does The Tranny, was Just Wondering About This Delay In Reverse,it Does It Always Hot Or Cold Engine.
Any Help Thanks Marino |
Have a transmission fluid/filter change performed. Then, if it still does it, don't worry about it--just save some money back for repair. My 300E has been doing his for many years, so you can go for a long time before it comes to the point of an expensive repair.
This is a common problem, you are not alone. -GH |
Having just had a conversation with one of the better tranny shops in the area, I took advantage of a chance to pick the owner's head about MB trannys while I was there.
In his opinion, our 722.3xx series transmissions are only really prone to two failures unless you do something exceedingly bad to them. One is the B1 piston failure on early transmissions (early 80's if I understood correctly) causing you to loose forward gears, and the other was the reverse band friction coming loose from the band, and causing the longer engagement times. Like nissanzx1 said, I'd probably save for a rebuild, but drive it until you can't stand it's behavior. |
