Question Headlight wiper misaligned - 86 300e

A headlight wiper is misaligned on my 86 300e. The owners manual (cd) shows a cover and suggests lifting this cover and unscrewing a nut. My wipers do not have a cover as described by the manual. The wipers are one piece from the point where they attach out past the bend of the arm. There is what appears to be a very small rivet (the size of a head of a pin) towards the base on the wiper arm, located on the bottom on the arm. There must be an easy way to adjust these, any help would be appreciated.

LarryO,
Take another very close look at the arms. The cover is there, it just doesn't look like a cover. It's sort of a clamshell and the rivet you see is the pivot point. But, before you relocate the arm, try running the wipers and see if they correctly reposition themselves. Sometimes they stop before returning all the way. I believe the headlights have to be on for the wipers to activate...

Glen,
Thanks for reply. Ran wipers and one is still not seated correctly. I took a very careful look at the wipers and they are definitely one piece out past the bend an then pivot there. They do not look nor operate as described on the cd. Does anyone have any experience with wipers such as these?

Your description sounds like the wipers normally fitted to 190E's with headlight wipers. If so, this picture may help:

Thumbs up

Glen,
Thanks for the reply and pictures. I do have the 190 wipers and I am now able to correct alignment. Looked at your pictures, that is a beautiful 500e
