AC oil qty?
I have a litttle leak in the AC condenser on the '91 300SE.
I see a little oily area, so I know it's only a matter of time. I guess I get to use up my last stock of R12. Question; when replacing the condenser and the drier/accumulator, how much oil do I add back to the system? With the condenser, it's probably about an ounce, but does the drier/accumulator come with some oil, or do I need to add several ounces? Tks, DG |

Since you have to open up the system, you should replace the drier. You can drill holes in the drier and measure the quantity of oil in there and just replace what came out.

Thanks. Yeah, that's probably the best way - just hack open the old one and see. I definitely plan to replace the drier on an 18 year-old unit that uses "liquid gold" for refrigerant!
Maybe I can get another few years before I have to give my right kidney for more R12. DG |

R-12 isn't too bad these days. You can go to any O'reilley Auto Parts and get it for 38 bucks a can with the license.
