Auxiliary Water Pump

Does anyone have a diagram or picture for how the auxiliary water pump should be plumbed in a 1980 MB 300D?

Had a brand new pump start leaking after about a month (Just after the warranty ran out, of course). I installed the new one identical to the old, and just want to make sure its right.

Thanks.

Its plumbed to push coolant to the firewall. From memory, I dont think the electrical connector is long enough to connect if installed backwards. So hook the hose onto the forward nipple and supply voltage to the pump, should push coolant out the back towards the firewall. Squeeze the inlet hose with a pair of vise grips prior to removing it. will loose less coolant!

Thanks for the response. I think what you've described is what I've got. I've attached a photo of the plumbing of the Aux Water Pump. Is that how your AWP is plumbed?

Just seems odd for a month old pump to start spraying coolant all over the engine compartment.

Thanks
